Alzheimer Dog

We're pretty sure poor Waldo is getting Alzheimer's. Or he's just getting spoiled with Jesus home all day. That, and I think the cold weather is affecting his poor old joints. It takes him a little bit longer to get up in the morning, or after his daily (hourly) naps. The other day, I headed upstairs to take a shower and called Waldo upstairs with me. He will usually go upstairs and sleep on his bed while I'm in the shower. Or going to bed. Or vacuuming. Or just looking out the window. Bottom line is he likes to be with me wherever I go. He's a momma's boy. Both dogs are like that, actually. I digress. On the way up the stairs, Waldo stopped about 3 stairs from the top, looked around, then sat down. He then turned around to head back down the stairs, saw me, and finished going up the stairs. It was like he forgot where he was going and why.

I had planned on taking a nice long, hot shower and use up all the hot water because Jesus was gone and I didn't have to hear him whine about no hot water. (love you!) So I got in my hot steamy shower, did the whole washy-washy thing and was all ready to stand there and soak it all in when I heard a noise. I whistled for Chica so she would push the door open and I could listen a little better. It ding-dong Waldo barking. At first it was just a woof here and there. Then he started his full-blown seal bark, and wouldn't stop, no matter how loud I yelled at him or what I called him. He also has selective hearing, but that's a story for another time and another place. So I had to cut my nice hot, long shower short so the dumb dog would stop barking. As soon as I stuck my head in the bedroom to see what his problem was, he got the goofy face he gets when he hasn't seen you for a while and was all wiggly. How can I be mad at such a cute face? I love it when he gets all wiggly and has his goofy face on! I know, I'm a sucker.

THEN, after my shower, I brought both dogs downstairs with me, and Waldo went down about halfway, stopped, turned around and went back up a few steps and stopped behind me. I continued down the stairs, and he followed after me again. I think he's losing it. Or maybe he was making sure I was going downstairs with him. He probably didn't want to lose sight of me again. The boogy monster might get him.

Prego Weirdness

I'm 14 1/2 weeks along in my pregnancy, and I'm noticing so many subtle changes, it blows my mind. Things like: my gums bleed at the slightest thought. I can only see toes instead of feet. My stretchy work pants that I would never dream of wearing without a belt unless I wanted to show off 5" of plumber's crack are a litte tight. Forget wearing a belt with them!

And finally, my outtie belly-button (which was starting to creep innie before prego-momma due to flab, but that's an entirely different story) is sticking more outtie, but is also getting really flat. I just noticed it yesterday. It's so weird! I have a feeling my "turkey-timer" is going to pop before the turkey is really done. I still have a long ways to go yet.

The other thing is, I received a postcard in the mail the other day advertising 3-D ultrasounds. How cool would that be? We'd get to find out what our baby looks like before it's even born! I know, it also kind of ruins the surprise. But it would be so cool! Plus, Jesus and I are so impatient. I did a tiny bit of research, and it looks like it's only $250 or so for the good package with a dvd, a cd of pictures, and some 3-D picture prints. The only problem is that $250 is a bunch of money for 2 people that only have 1 job between them, and are barely scraping by. So maybe the 3-D pictures are needed so badly after all.

My Parasite Has a Heartbeat!

We had our second OB checkup this morning. No ultrasound this time, but we did get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. I also got the best news I've gotten in a while. I've been having problems with my allergies lately, but havent been able to take allergy medicine because of the baby. But today, Dr. Rodgers gave me the green light to continue taking my allergy meds. Hurray!!! I can finally put an end to the headaches in the morning! That, and Jesus and I dusted and cleaned our bedroom today. Man, it was bad! I guess it goes with the territory of having 2 dogs. But now our bedroom is dust and dog hair free... at least until we go to bed tonight.

At the doctor's we also set up our next ultrasound appointment. So hopefully, our little Baby G will be spread eagle and cooperative and we can find out if we're having a little nino or nina on April 8th. 7 more weeks. Forever from now. I'm kind of hoping for a little girl for 2 reasons. 1) Jesus would be so cute with a little girl! He'd be wrapped around her little finger in no time flat. 2) We havent had any luck picking out boy names. The girl name is no problem, we've had that picked out for a while now. But boy names? Neither of us can come up with any that we really like or can agree on. But, we do have about 6 more months to figure out something. Once we finally find out the sex, it will hopefully be a little easier.

Holy Moley!

Where did this belly come from? This kid is already growing like a weed! I still have 2 whole trimesters left!! I only noticed this weekend that my "little bit of chub" around my midsection has become a real live baby bump. Then, when I got out of the shower today, I noticed that if I stand straight and relaxed, then look down, I can only see my toes. Not my feet, just my toes. When did this happen? I also think that since my bellybutton is already an "outie", it's going to pop out prematurely. It was starting to become an "innie" before I got pregnant, because I love food, but that's since reversed. Not the part where I love food, the part where my bellybutton was sinking.

Speaking of food.. I think we have some Rocky Road ice cream in the freezer. Mmm.. Rocky Road ice cream with melted peanut butter on top... I'm out!!

Something Happened To My Blog...

What happened to it? My background disappeared, so I put a new one on, and it showed a blank page. So I tried a template to maybe reset it, then put in the cool background again and I cant remember how I put the original viney background in. Oops! So I lost the cool baby ticker that I (okay, Jessica) found, and cant figure out how to put it back on. Dang!! So my blog will have to be ugly until I can figure it out.

In better news, I've discovered that I can make grilled cheese sandwiches!

Update: I think I fixed it! Hurray!!
